As Tawheed foundation Sierra Leone joined global Muslims in celebrating Eid Al-Adha and as part of our package for this year’s festival, we played host to 200 orphaned children across our two designated locations in Sanda Taindaren and Yoni Mabanta chiefdoms in Karene and Tonkolili districts respectively (150 at the Sanda Cultural village – Roshaka village and 50 at Malkia village) on Thursday, 29th June, 2023.
When he was addressing the orphaned children alongside their parents and caregivers, our CEO and founder, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Tejan Bangura spoke on the historic background of Eid Al-Adha and the importance of sharing and celebrating during this Islamic festival. He furthered spoke on the need for society to take an affirmative action in addressing the challenges orphans are facing in their respective communities. He encouraged parents and caregivers to continue to look after these orphans as he is continuing to advocate to donors to build an orphanage were these orphans are going to be hosted and well looked after.
The second edition of the Orphans Eid Gift project in Sierra Leone was fully sponsored by One Ummah Charity in the United Kingdom and the beneficiaries were exclusively drew from the 200 orphans One Ummah charity is sponsoring in Sierra Leone with the quarterly direct cash transfer since late 2018.
Each Eid Gift bag contained toiletries, football, candies, toys, biscuits and a parcel of meat. Aside the gifts that were distributed, we also organized outdoor games for the orphan beneficiaries and that formed the climax of the program.

Orphans were very pleased with the generosity of the donors and prayed for Jannatul Firdaus for them and their families.
